Window Murrine with gold and goldstone big hole bead

This bead captures the organic shapes and colors of Murano glass beads.   Inspired by the times I have visited this beautiful glass island.  Murrine is everywhere.

From the creation of the window murrine, to the placement , creating a bead slice.

The back is polished, and 23kt gold is applied and fired into the glass for a permanent gold backing.

This gold reflects through the transparency of the clear glass, creating an incredible reflective surface, deep within the bead

Size: 40mm x 5mm with a 9.5mm hole.

weight of the bead is 1.5 oz.  Very light for its size.

This bead is first fused, then flameworked using a propane and oxygen torch, and then fused again.  This piece is then placed directly into a digitally controlled kiln for the annealing process.
