This is a continuation of the SOFT GLASS marble class.
Materials:
Any Soft Glass, (but I will be using COE 104.)
Lots of different dichroic colors on CLEAR glass
Tools:
Any Oxy/fuel torch will work. I am using my Bethlehem Bravo, but only using the inner torch, which is the same as the Bethlehem Alpha, which is very similar to the Nortel Minor, or CC Bead Burner. Larger torches may also be used. (Torches using a concentrator may also be used. It is just a bit slower. Which is ok, get into the zen of glass)
If you have tungsten tweezers, these are very helpful.
I offer a Tool kit which consists of the Fiberboard with a Divot, and 2 steel rods pre-shaped for use.
1- Fiber Board with Divot (you can order from me, or use your own graphite marble mold on a stick…the hand held kind)
2- 1/8″ stainless steel punties with a point ground on one side, and ground flat on the other side (you can order from me, or grind your own)
Graphite Marble Mold (table top or hand held)
You will supply all of the other normal flame working tools.
Class Information:
This class is a 2 hour class.
This class will meet in Zoom.
Feb. 18 at 3pm (MST)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I have had a few questions about this class, so I thought I would add them here:
Q: Do I have to use the fiber mold with a divot that you sell?
A: No, you do not need to use the fiber mold with a divot that I sell. You can use a graphite marble mold, as long as it is on a handle. The table top version gets too hot to handle.
Q: Can I make my own fiber mold with a divot?
A: Yes you can, and we will go into how to do that in the class.
Q: Can I make my own steel punties?
A: Yes you can. Just grind a small (1/8 inch deep) point on one side, and grind the other side flat.
Q: Do I have to take the prerequisite Intro to Marbles workshop?
A: Yes. We do not go into how to round out the marbles like we do in the other soft glass marble class. However, if you have experience in marble making, please send me an email, and we can discuss how to get you into this workshop/
Q: If I miss the class, can I watch it later?
A: Yes. All of the videos from the class will be in the classroom on my website for 4 weeks.
